We’re excited to welcome James Begeal as Solugen’s new President of Energy and Water. In this role, James will lead commercial strategy for the Energy and Produced Water sectors—bringing our innovative chemistry directly to leading oil and gas operators, accelerating revenue growth, and deepening our commercial pipeline.

“Throughout my career, I’ve looked for ways to challenge the status quo—using innovation and technology to solve long-standing problems in new ways,” said James Begeal, President of Energy and Water. “That’s exactly what I found at Solugen: a unique combination of cutting-edge technology, market-defining innovation, and a team with no limits on how they think or work. I’m excited to help bring innovative solutions to the operators shaping the future of American industry.”

With more than 25 years of experience in the chemical industry, James has built and led high-performing teams across every stage of growth. He began his career at Baker Hughes, where he held various sales, technical, and business roles. At Clariant, he launched and led a new business unit in the Southern U.S., building the team, facilities, and operations from the ground up while managing full P&L responsibility.

In 2016, James co-founded NexGen Chemical Technologies, a provider of alternative natural gas sweetening solutions that improved efficiency and reduced total cost of operations for E&P and midstream operators. As COO and CTO, he helped lead the company’s growth alongside a strong leadership team. NexGen was acquired by Foremark Performance Chemicals in 2023, expanding Foremark’s footprint and reinforcing its leadership in natural gas sweetening. James then joined the executive team at Foremark and played a key role in the company’s successful acquisition by CC Industries, the Crown Family’s holding company.

“James is a builder—he knows what it takes to launch, scale, and win in this space,” said Solugen CEO Gaurab Chakrabarti. “We’re excited to have him bring that same builder’s mindset to Solugen as we double down on delivering solutions that meet our customers’ toughest challenges.”

James is no stranger to Solugen, having previously served as an advisor. Now, he joins the team full time to lead commercial efforts across energy and water—refining our go-to-market strategy, aligning our capabilities with the evolving needs of the industry, and working closely with operators to deliver tailored, high-performance chemical solutions. His proven ability to merge deep technical insight with strategic commercial execution will be critical as we continue to expand our reach and impact.
